Things you can infer from this picture is their is a nuclear problem. It is an emergency, and people are in danger. The message of the picture is that the nuclear emergency going on is NOT good. The special interest groups that would agree with this picture are the people that are getting effected by it because they know what it's like. The author's point of view is that all of this needs to stop. In my opinion, it is persuasive. It catches people's eye.

Cancer sticks.
The issue that inspired this picture is the millions of people that die from cancer due to smoking. Their is a skeloton Camel in this picture. The symbolisim in this picture is the skeleton Camel. It symbolizes death. One thing that I might infer from looking at this picture is that smoking isn't healthy. The second thing I would infer is that the companys and factories that make the cigarettes don't have a problem knowing that they're killing peole with every drag of a cigarette that the person takes. The third thing I would infer is that people continue buying them knowing that it kills them. The message from this picture is that cigarettes might not kill you as soon as you smoke them but later on in life you might die from cancer. Special interst groups that would agree with this picture are the people that don't like cigarettes because of what they do. The author's point of veiw is that smoking is not good for your health or well being. In my opinion, I agree with this, but some people don't listen. It catches people's eye also.
She's got your eyes.
The issure that inspired this picture is children watching too much television. Their is a little baby girl with a television in her eye. The symbolisim in this picture is the eye being replaced with a television. One thing I might infer is that kids might watch a lot of television. The second thing I might infer from this picture is that it may become a problem. The third thing I would infer is children would not agree with this picture, or what it is saying. The message from this picture is that kids spend too much time watching television. Special interest groups that would agree with this are parent's. The author's point of view is that children watch television. In my opinion, I don't agree. I think it's good that kids watch a lot of televison. Would you rather them be at home watching the television, or out in the streets slangin' drugs and killing people? Your choice.
Chimamanda Adichie’s single story.
expected expected
Chimamanda Adichie's speech took place in Oxford in 2009. Her speech took place at the Ted Global 200- Conference. The audience were people who gathered to hear her speech. The Ted Global speakers were doctors, teachers, scientists, etc. Chimamanda is a novelest from Nigeria. In her speech, she tells how she only told one story that she doesn't know anything about.
"I wrote exactly the kinds of stories I was reading: All my characters were white and blue-eyed, they played in the snow."
Reading this quote made me realize that she was writing a story, that she has absolutely no idea about. She thought that the only story settings acceptable HAD to be the ones found in the 'white world' as she would say. It upsets me that the only voice and point of veiw that she was exposed to was not hers.
Another quote that shocked me was whenever she was getting interviewed by another woman. The lady expected one thing and found out a completely different thing. That just goes to show you how people steryotype others.
"She asked if she could listen to what she called my “tribal music,” and was consequently very disappointed when I produced my tape of Mariah Carey."
I understand why the woman thought that. Sometimes whenever you think of how an average African American woman looks like, and the things she does, you sterotype them. The quote is saying that the woman expected her to listen to "tribal music."
